Why people fail Interviews

There are mobs of writers who have come up with practical and sometimes impractical ways of how to pass interviews, this has made many to forget about what not to do during an interview. Since many people are always equipped with the basics of what to expect, they may end up making some big mistakes when they do things which nearly all interview experts forget to write. In the last few months I have seen why people pass interviews and others fail, I would like to bring to the notice of everyone the things you should never do in front of an interview panel

PRAYER: I am very aware that many people are spiritual enough and many of such people would like to begin with a prayer with every thing they do, However, there should be an exemption when it comes to interviews, unless you are very sure that the situation calls for a prayer please avoid it.

There are some people who may think that their show of spirituality will earn them the job, so they begin by asking the panel to humble themselves for prayer. They then begin to "bind" the demons of nepotism or favoritism and "sending fire" to all the demons in the room. First of all, not all people on the panel may be interested in prayers and you may un knowingly create a bias against you even before the interview begin.

LANGUAGE: The world has changed a lot and so has the language, however, if you are face to face with the panel, always remember to be professional. It will earn you no mark to use a distorted language though the opposite is absolutely true. Some people may find it easy to use words like "Hi men" which in essence should be avoided. Some people go ahead to use world like "Am the only bad man" for the job. Though such a word will earn you credits in the ghetto community, it may sink you hard during an interview. Forget that slang even exist, otherwise you will have your self to blame

HONEST: Being honest is essential, but never exceed the limits, some people may want to prove how much they are honest and trustworthy by saying words they should really avoid. I herd about a woman who in front of the panel said "I am always faithful with large sums of money until the temptation to steal it overwhelms me" in order to prove how honest she was. To be sincere, that doesn't make you honest at all, but it describes you as a thief and no employer will ever want to take you on

Many people who want to prove how honest they are normally fall out when they are asked their major weakness, it questions needs a lot of professionalism and normally rehearsed answers can be detected. No matter how honest you are, never mention the extreme vises like adultery, theft or of any thing which is not professional.

COMMENTS: Never make unsolicited comments since they are normally un called for, some people may thing that by giving complements about how the interview room is beautiful may win them favour. Even when a certain lady on the panel made some good hair, always pretend that you have not seen it. It will not benefit you at all complement on the smartness of the men on the panel, some may take it personal and the loser will be you. I don't see any reason why you should ask people on the panel whether they are married, that is part of "crossing the line" during an interview. Keep all you complement to your self and focus on the necessary.
